Paladin Leveling Guide
The Paladin has received massive changes to their class with Wrath of the Lich King. These changes allowed the Retribution tree to have a more interactive playstyle. If you need some talent help in respect to leveling you’ve come to the right place.

Let’s get back to the Paladin leveling. First of all we must come to agreement that the only viable choice is Retribution. Some people may go Holy as they like to heal instances, but it limits their soloing capability and ends up slowing you down significantly. Some may say Protection is great for leveling as it allows you to kill multiple mobs quickly. The problem with this is that questing is the fastest way of leveling, and most quests aren’t based around killing plenty of mobs at once, nevermind that it doesn’t work with ranged/caster mobs. As such you can easily find yourself leveling even slower than a Holy Spec, which yes I just absurb.
As this leaves Retribution here’s the talent specialization I suggest you go for:

This specialization has many superb talents for leveling. Because of this you should spend most of your points in the Retribution tree as shown above instead of diverging. One thing to mention is that you should skip Divine Purpose if you’re playing on a non-PvP server as it becomes quite redundant. Something else to mention is that you shouldn’t be picking up Improved Blessing of Might until later on as you won’t have the mana to skip Blessing of Wisdom.
The reason the Retribution is so strong is that it is full of talents that help you level. You get new attacks, movement speed increase and debuffs.
Dig through the Retribution tree and see which talents are required for the following benefits whenever you judge:
Give a chance to reduce the target’s attack power
Increase the target’s chance to get critically hit
Restore your own mana
Have a high chance to critically hit with your judgement
Whenever you critically hit with your judgement you leave a damage over time effect on the target
As you can see there’s some great synergy there for buffing up your Judgements. This isn’t all as you can also buff your retribution aura to go from being useless to doing good damage whenever somebody strikes you.
On top of this you also get gimmicky talents like Repentance to take certain enemies out of the fight. Or Art of War which allows you to either instantly cast Exorcism or your Flash of Light heal when some of your abilities critically hit.
The really enjoyable part is when you finally have both Divine Storm and Crusader Strike. Once you get these abilities you will truly be a Retribution Paladin and your enemies will melt by your holy powers (or maybe it’s that big mace you just smashed their face in with!).
I find it unfortunate that Paladins only get 1 viable talent tree for leveling but you can reflect on the fact that it is a very powerful one and hopefully not be too disappointed with that prospect. I guess part of this is also made up by being on a Player versus Player server and simply smashing enemy players to pieces.
